heads of major companies took time to
address the group and impart lessons
they learned in their careers.
Karl Watson Jr., industry expert,
offered a few keys to leadership success.
"You cannot be a leader in the construction materials industry unless you are
competent at what you do," Watson said.
It's important that leaders are committed to moving the business forward each

for a company that has purpose, that
has a vision and knows what it's trying to do," he said. "We do more than
just crush rock... and we updated our
mission statement to reflect that we
improve communities through our products, actions and support."
Jon Morrish, president and CEO of
Lehigh Hanson, encouraged people to
work hard, stay true to ethical practices
and take risks. "I think it's very easy
to be a caretaker of a job," he said. But
people will ask 'What did you do with
it?' or 'What did you achieve?' I think
what you do to increase the scope and
responsibilities of a job improves the
company and also your own career.
The boundaries of any job, especially
