and Family
True leadership helps a company to grow when you
remain authentic to your values and give respect to those
you lead. Who we are, where we come from and the experiences we have can make us better leaders. It only becomes
a liability if we let it become a liability. It's your choice
as future leaders to capitalize on your past and learn to
use those experiences as the foundation for your future
success. When you pretend to be someone that you are
not, it will be evident and come across as insincere and
disrespectful to those you lead. When you're authentic,
honest and transparent, people will see that your drive
and passion for the industry, the company, and most
importantly for their safety, is genuine.
You can't take advantage of the career opportunities
necessary to be successful and expect to work 40-45
hours a week. The sacrifices you will make to achieve
your career goals will many times be in conflict with
that of your family. It's important that you pursue your
career with your family in mind. Be honest with each
other about what that commitment means early in the
relationship, because you don't leave your career at the
office and it's a lot more enjoyable to have a family to
share your success!

Talking about the importance of our industry and aggregates with people outside of our industry, our neighbors
and communities, is incredibly important.
CALCIMA has identified communications as a strategic priority, with the goal of increasing awareness and
understanding of the value and benefits of the industry,
strengthening and sharing our story more broadly and
growing the labor force.
Establishing a relationship and maintaining an ongoing
dialogue with stakeholders helps build pride within the
industry and increase engagement as well as contributes to
strengthening the policy agenda and its desired outcomes.
Ted Baker - Discipline and Delegation
Surround yourself with quality people, delegate authority and get out of the way. It's amazing to me how many
businesses don't practice this.
In a lot of organizations, employees do what they're
told. They have a fear of being fired. That's what you don't
want because it can stifle morale and productivity. Have
integrity as a leader, have clarity and empower your teams
to accomplish the mission.
