Stone, Sand & Gravel REVIEW - September/October 2016 - 26

Former NSSGA Chairman Charlie Luck IV said that our group has incredible talent and energy and perspectives unique to our generation. The Young Leaders have been welcomed into the new structure of the NSSGA and we are humbled to serve at increased levels which will help lead the NSSGA and our industry for years to come. What are some of your goals for the group? This is a unique and amazing group and I want to make sure we keep the momentum rolling. The Young Leaders Steering Committee is focusing on a few primary goals in addition to growing participation levels at our Annual Meetings. Those goals are generating additional opportunities for Young Leaders to get involved within the NSSGA and also promoting the importance of industry advocacy through grassroots efforts and ROCKPAC. It is our hope that people who attend our meetings will stay involved with Young Leaders and bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the NSSGA. If we can Relationship Builders At Hunton & Williams, we are proud of our many long-standing client relationships - nearly 40 percent of our top clients date back more than 25 years. We are equally proud of developing new, industry-leading clients each year. Named environmental practice group of the year by Law360 in 2014, our lawyers take a proactive approach to helping clients manage the ever-changing demands of environmental legislation and regulations. When it comes to Young Leaders meetings, speakers are often as inspiring as the locations. Any special plans for the coming year? It will be hard to beat last year's speakers, that's for sure! It is amazing to see so many captains of our industry - people who have built companies from the ground up - who are willing to take time out of their busy schedules and impart advice and lessons they've learned to the next generation of aggregates leaders. To me, this is a true testament of the value our industry leaders are putting on the next generation. We will make sure the 2017 Annual Meeting is no different and that we continue to have the best speakers, networking sessions and more. Next year will be special. Every five years, the Annual Meeting is a "reunion year." The meeting is opened up to anyone who has participated in Young Leaders - no matter their age. It makes for a tremendous meeting where you have people who are just getting started with their careers and leaders who may have spent 30 or more years in the aggregates business. Since 2017 will be the Leaders' 25th Anniversary, we really wanted to gather in a truly outstanding venue and we are in the process of locating a fantastic, one-of-a-kind resort in Arizona. We are going to a southwest resort that will be full of amenities people expect from a reunion year event. All of the details will be posted to www.nssga.org/major-event/ yl-annual-meeting and we expect registration to open soon. Lastly, the Young Leaders would also like to thank Brian Mahavier, our immediate past chairman, for his dedication to the group and his leadership. Brian has helped Young Leaders keep a prominent role in the association's leadership through the Board Evolution Initiative and has been a key part to our success. ■ http://www.hunton.com http://www.nssga.org/major-event/ http://www.hunton.com
